Mobility

Balancing safety and user experience

The use of mobile technologies is a relatively new experience that has made businesses somewhat skeptical, since providing their partners and customers with access to their business systems and data via mobile apps, means putting their own safety at risk. This new challenge requires enhanced safety measures for mobile apps, which often has adverse consequences on user experience. There is unavoidable frustration and, in many cases, denial to adopt changes, which ultimately affects competitiveness. Therefore, it is important to strike the ideal balance between a streamlined and uninterrupted user experience to the benefit of your customers and safety for your valuable data.

Staged deployment

This is a common mistake: IT, under the pressure of executives for immediate results, often opts for a fast mobile deployment with no strategy and no roadmap for the future. When changes are not introduced gradually, but rather as a “shock”, it is almost certain that there will be problems with the business processes and obvious financial consequences. In other words, if you choose a “mobile-only” approach, without actually realizing that mobile technology is just one part of the ecosystem bringing together customers, employees and businesses, you will not get the desired results. In order to benefit from the advantages of this technology, you need to come up with a comprehensive strategy covering safety, business processes and corporate culture issues.

Mobility that brings ROI

If you rush to adopt mobile technology, without first evaluating the exact impact on your business processes, you will suffer negative consequences on productivity and effectiveness and finally end up having to deal with reactions from your employees and negative ROI. This is why you need to analyze first specific parameters: What is the profile of the potential users? What tasks do they perform? Can some part of their work be done on-the-go? What decisions do they make? In which environment? And last, can this environment support the use of mobile devices? In this way, you’ll be able to identify the pros and cons of mobilizing your processes and consequently, achieve the desired ROI.

Comprehensive strategy

The landscape of mobile technology is constantly changing. If there is something that can ruin the prospect of any mobile initiative, this is not having a long-term strategy for managing and adjusting to developments. At minimum, such a strategy must include the control of mobile apps for new OS and new device launches, as well the evaluation of tools and platforms for their continuous support.
