According to official ministerial statements, significant changes to the Digital Employee Card measure and incentives for its implementation by businesses are expected. The main objective is to fight bureaucracy and make it easier for businesses, as we are at a time when they are suffering from inherent problems in the market.

With the completion of the elections, and the return to daily routine that had been interrupted by the election period, the Digital Employee Card also enters a new phase. Specifically, following a meeting between a delegation of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and the Minister of Labor and Social Security, a number of issues related to business were raised. One of these is the Digital Card, which is currently being implemented in banks, supermarkets and insurance companies.

Therefore, according to the commitments and official statements, significant changes to the measure and at the same time incentives for its implementation by businesses are expected. The aim remains to fight bureaucracy and make things easier for businesses, at a time when they are suffering from problems in the market.

In addition, it is planned to abolish the requirement to post certain documents in the ERGANI INFORMATION SYSTEM for businesses that will implement the Digital Employee Card, according to a draft law of the Ministry of Labor, the public consultation of which has been delayed due to the wildfires. According to the information now available, the draft law will address the bureaucracy in the implementation of the Digital Employee Card by businesses with up to 20 employees that do not have an accounting department. Specifically, they will end their obligation to declare any work changes to ERGANI on the same day and will be subject to fines in the event of audits.

Among these documents is that of the advance notice of overtime. This will provide an additional incentive for small businesses adopting the Digital Employee Card. The aim is to avoid bureaucracy, since through the digital card the actual working hours of employees will be reflected in real time in ERGANI.

It should be reminded that thanks to the Digital Employee Card, the audit by the Labor Inspectorate is facilitated, with transparent and objective procedures. We have already reached the point where inspections can be carried out remotely, since inspectors check, via ERGANI, the records of employees’ working hours and can ascertain in the long run the overtime worked and then check their payment.
